23rd Annual Spirit Challenge
This is a fundraising event for the Legacy Education Foundation, a program that helps fund Educational Opportunities in the Yampa River Valley.
What: 10k and 5k running races on paved roads and track.
When: Saturday, May 3, 2008

Where: Steamboat Springs Middle School, 5100 Amethyst Drive
Registration: Races are open to all ages and runners may register in advance at Christy Sports. Runners can purchase a t-shirt for $10 the day of the race.

Awards: Prizes abound for racers, walk-a-thon
participants, and volunteers due to the continued generosity of local merchants and
supporters throughout Routt County. Announcement of the top three positions in each
category of 5k Men, 5k Women, 10k Men, 10k Women and the winner of the 5k walk will be
made immediately following the completion of the event. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
positions will receive a fine gift, donated from local merchants. The remaining
adult gifts will be awarded by random drawing.
Course Descriptions:
- Walk-a-Thon: Children from across Routt County will be on the middle school track completing as many 1/4 mile laps as possible during their 1 1/2 hour walk-a-thon (10:00 am - 11:30 am) to benefit their own educational opportunities. An on-course aid station will provide water and both water and oranges can be found at the finish line. We look forward to seeing you there.
- 5k run/walk is a scenic, rolling on and off road loop
- 10k is an out uphill and back downhill through Strawberry Park.
Aid Stations: Provided at 10K turnaround
Pets: Leashed pets welcome.
