Continental Divide Trail Run

Proceeds from this race are donated to the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund.

Distances: 50k (9 hour cutoff), 16 mile (7 hour cutoff) and 5 mile

Date: Saturday, August 29th, 2026

Location: The race starts and ends on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill.

Start Times: 50k – 6:00 am, 16 mile – 8:00 am, 5 mile – 8:15 am

Pets: Leashed dogs are welcome on the 5 mile mile course only. Please be courteous at the start when the field is in close proximity on the narrow single track.

This is a cupless race. There will be no cups at the aid stations. Please plan accordingly and bring a water bottle or collapsible cup. Collapsible cups will be available for purchase at packet pickup and the race.

You may also register in person at packet pickup, Friday, August 28th from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

Packet pick up: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Friday, August 28th at Ski Haus, 1457 Pine Grove Road, Steamboat Springs and on race day from 5:15 am – 8:15 am at the start. We highly encourage everyone to try and pick up their packets on Friday to avoid congestion on race day.

There is NO registration on race day! Please sign up early.

The 50K course is just a sliver over 29.5 miles, starts and finishes at about 7,000ft and climbs to over 10,400ft.

Aid Stations:

Aid Station 1 – Rainbow Saddle: mile 6

Aid Station 2 – Mt. Werner Summit: mile 8

Aid Station 3 – Long Lake: mile 15

Aid Station 4 – Mt Werner: mile 22

Aid Station 5 – Rainbow Saddle: mile 25

Finish Line – Torian Plum Lawn

There will be NO cups at the aid stations!
Runners must carry their own hydration device for water and should carry some Honey Stinger or other type of energy food.
Please consider carrying a light shell in case the weather changes throughout the day.
We will have water & Tailwind and your typical race food at each aid station.

Cut-off:

The safety of our runners is our number one concern. Due to the popularity of this race and the remoteness on parts of the trail system, we have to enforce a strict cutoff times for the 50K race.

Mt. Werner Aid Station – 7 hours (1:00 PM)
Finish Line – 9 hours (3:00 PM)

Please make sure that you are able to finish in this time frame. We are an all volunteer staff and for your safety we cannot have any runners out past that time.

The 5 mile course is just a sliver under 5 miles, and has an elevation difference of just over 1,000ft from the start to the turnaround.

There are no Aid Stations on the 5 mile course
AWARDS AND POST RACE

The awards ceremony will be following the race on the the Torian Plum Lawn.

Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place males and females.

Age group awards have been added for the 50k and 16M races!

We will also have finisher mugs for the 50k and 16 mile.

Every participant is automatically entered in our prize raffle, which will follow the awards ceremony.

We will have a post-race taco bar at the finish, provided by Los Locos. The taco bar is for registered race participants, only. Friends and family may purchase meals directly from Los Locos, which is located next to the finish line in Torian Plaza.

PARKING
The race starts and ends on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill.

Parking option are:

Free parking at the Upper Knoll Lot (2276-2292 Mt Werner Cir, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487) diagonally across Mt. Werner Circle from the transportation center dropoff area. It is a 0.5 mile walk to the start/finish area at Torian Plum Lawn.

Paid parking ($15 per day) at 2 parking garages (1680 Ski Time Square Dr and 2307-2313 Mt Werner Circle) at the intersection of Mt. Werner Circle and Ski Times Square Drive. They are a one block walk to the start/finish area, very close. The garage at 2307-2313 Mt Werner Circle has charging for electric vehicles.

Paid parking in the Torian Plum parking garage, directly underneath the start/finish area.

Get dropped off near the start/finish area.

Walk, bike, or take Steamboat’s free bus.

Please do not call Ski Haus for any information about this race. They are only serving as our pre-registration location and are not directly affiliated with this event.
CREWING AND RUNNER SUPPORT

The only location for crewing and supporting runners is at the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station. Access to the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station is by foot, bike, or gondola, only. The shortest route to walk to the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station from the Steamboat Resort base area is via the Thunderhead Hiking Trail. The best route to bike to the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station from the Steamboat Resort base area is via Short Cut Road to Why Not Road. You may purchase a ticket from Steamboat Resort to ride the Steamboat Gondola (which opens at 9 AM) from the base area to Thunderhead Lodge and walk 1/2 mile to the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station. THERE IS NO VEHICLE ACCESS TO ANY PART OF THE COURSE. Steamboat Resort prohibits the public from driving within the boundaries of the resort. The U.S. Forest Service prohibits the public from driving to the Long Lake Aid Station.
