Continental Divide Trail Run – Steamboat Springs Running Series

Proceeds from this race are donated to the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund.

Distances: 50k (9 hour cutoff), 16 mile (7 hour cutoff) and 5 mile

Date: Saturday, August 24th 2024

Location: The race starts and ends on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill.

Start Times: 50k – 6:00 am, 16 mile – 8:00 am, 5 mile – 8:15 am

Pets: Leashed dogs are welcome on the 5 mile mile course only. Please be courteous at the start when the field is in close proximity on the narrow single track.

Online registration closes on Friday, August 23rd at 6 pm.

Packet pick up is at Ski Haus (1457 Pine Grove Road) on Friday, August 23rd from 4-6 pm.

There is NO registration on race day! Please sign up early.

Registration Fees:
- 50k: $125 ($140 after June 30), maximum of 200 runners
- 16 mile: $65 ($80 after June 30), maximum of 200 runners
- 5 mile: $35 ($45 after June 30)
- Prices do not include RunSignup fees
- 0.000% Tax for all races
T-Shirt: $20 (Not guaranteed to be available after August 15th.)

No Refunds: all Steamboat Springs Running Series races benefit local non-profit organizations.
50K COURSE INFORMATION
The race-day check-in tent and the start/finish line will be set up on the Torian Plum Lawn.
1. The race will start on Zig Zag, next to Torian Plum Lawn.
2. Follow Zig Zag trail to were it ends at Creekside.
3. Stay on Creekside only until Pioneer.
4. Follow Pioneer to Rainbow Saddle. (AID STATION #1)
5. Take Chisolm/Storm Peak Challenge to the top of Mt Werner. (AID STATION #2)
6. Follow Mountain View trail to Fish Creek Falls trail.
7. Turn tight on Fish Creek to Long Lake. (AID STATION #3)
8. Reverse course and return to Mt. Werner (AID STATION #4) via Fish Creek to Long Lake, Fish Creek Falls trail and Mountain View trail.
9. Follow Pete’s Wicked Trail but then take Cathy’s Cutoff.
10. Follow Cathy’s Cutoff to Sunshine
11. Then Sunshine to Chisolm/Storm Peak Challenge and back to Rainbow Saddle (AID STATION #5)
12. Take Elkhead Loop to Moonlight
13. Follow Moonlight to Spur Run Road
14. Take Spur Run Road only as far as Valley View
15. Follow Valley View to where it ends on Yoo Hoo Road
16. Take Yoo Hoo Road to Zig Zag
17. Follow Zig Zag to the finish line on the Torian Plum Lawn (you will cross Burgess Creek about 50 meters before the finish line).
Elevation gain and loss is roughly 5,500 feet, with the high point on the course at 10,420 ft. Most of this course is above 10,000ft. The total distance is roughly 31 miles.

Aid Stations:
- Aid Station 1 – Rainbow Saddle: mile 6
- Aid Station 2 – Mt. Werner Summit: mile 8
- Aid Station 3 – Long Lake: mile 15
- Aid Station 4 – Mt Werner: mile 22
- Aid Station 5 – Rainbow Saddle: mile 25
- Finish Line – Torian Plum Lawn
There will be NO cups at the aid stations!
Runners must carry their own hydration device for water and should carry some Honey Stinger or other type of energy food.
Please consider carrying a light shell in case the weather changes throughout the day.
We will have water & Tailwind and your typical race food at each aid station.

Cut-off:

The safety of our runners is our number one concern. Due to the popularity of this race and the remoteness on parts of the trail system, we have to enforce a strict 9-hour cut-off rule for the 16 mile race. Please make sure that you are able to finish in this time frame. We are an all volunteer staff and for your safety we cannot have any runners out past that time.
16 MILE COURSE INFORMATION
The race-day check-in tent and the start/finish line will be set up on the Torian Plum Lawn.
1. The race will start on Zig Zag, next to Torian Plum Lawn.

3. Turn around at the 2.5 mile mark on Creekside and head back down the way you came up.
4. Follow Zig Zag to the finish line on the Torian Plum Lawn (you will cross Burgess Creek about 50 meters before the finish line).
There are no Aid Stations on the 5 mile course

The race starts and ends on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill.

Parking option are:
- Free parking at the Upper Knoll Lot (2276-2292 Mt Werner Cir, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487) diagonally across Mt. Werner Circle from the transportation center dropoff area. It is a 0.5 mile walk to the start/finish area at Torian Plum Lawn.
- Paid parking ($15 per day) at 2 parking garages (1680 Ski Time Square Dr and 2307-2313 Mt Werner Circle) at the intersection of Mt. Werner Circle and Ski Times Square Drive. They are a one block walk to the start/finish area, very close. The garage at 2307-2313 Mt Werner Circle has charging for electric vehicles.
- Paid parking in the Torian Plum parking garage, directly underneath the start/finish area.
- Get dropped off near the start/finish area.
- Walk, bike, or take Steamboat’s free bus.
