Emerald Mountain Trail Run – Steamboat Springs Running Series

ABOUT

This race will serve as the end of the SSRS pointed season where series winners will be announced. Please be present to pick up awards.

This races offers two distances on Emerald Mountain, 12k (ends up being closer to 7.75 miles long) and a 4 mile run. This scenic course will begin at the base of Howelsen Hill and tour Emerald Mountain through aspen lined single track. Hikers are welcomed in the 12k.

This race is a fundraiser for Northwest Colorado Health.

Distances: 12k (roughly 7.75 miles), 4 mile and a Kids Fun Run

Date: Saturday, September 28th 2024

Location: Olympian Hall, Howelsen Hill (Howelsen Pkwy, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487)

Start Times: 12k hike (not timed) – 8:00 am, 12k – 9:00 am, 4 mile – 9:00 am, Kids Fun Run – 9:10 am

Pets: Much of this race in on narrow trails, and so it is not an ideal race for pets. This race is held within a city of Steamboat Springs park, so all pets must be leashed.

Online registration closes on Friday, September 27th at 6 pm.

Packet pick up and in person registration is available in Olympian Hall on race day from 8:00-9:00 am.

Registration Fees:
- 12k: $40 ($45 after August 28, $50 on race day)
- 4 mile: $25 ($30 after August 28, $35 on race day)
- Both races for runners 17 & under: $15 ($20 on race day)
- Kids Fun Run: Free
- Prices do not include RunSignup fees
T-Shirt: $20 (Not guaranteed to be available after September 19th.)

No Refunds: all Steamboat Springs Running Series races benefit local non-profit organizations.

Course Description:

12k
Start behind Olympian Hall and follow Robbie’s to Mile Run to Blackmere. Continue up to Larry’s via Blackmere, then take Larry’s up and over through the meadow to head across and pop out on Blackmere again for a short time. Run up Blackmere to the Quarry and down Little Moab to Lupine. Take Lupine to the Bluff’s and then a big loop on the Bluffs down to the start.

4 Mile
Start behind Olympian Hall and follow Robbie’s to Mile Run to Blackmere. Continue up Blackmere to the Lupine intersection across from Larry’s. Take a left on Lupine and continue running to the Bluffs trail. Take Bluffs down to the front of the horse stables. Continue through the park/soft ball fields back to Olympian Hall start/finish area.

Additional information: Please be respectful of passing hikers on the trail. If you are hiking, please pull to the side to allow runners to pass. Headphones are not encouraged.
